As modern wind towers continue to grow in output and size, so do the dimensions of their components and the tools used for their erection and maintenance.
In order to facilitate the handling of the bolting tools that are used during the tightening process, Radial Torque Tools has developed the “Torque Tool Flange Roller”. This eliminates the need to lift heavy torque wrenches from bolt to bolt during the installation process, significantly reducing the load and fatigue of the technician when tightening the numerous flange bolts inside the tower.

AN ERGONOMIC BOLTING TOOL LIFTING SYSTEM FOR WIND TOWER FLANGES
APPLICABILITY
The roller can be used with various models of RAD Torque tools such as the E-RAD and B-RAD X Series of 7.000 to 15.000 Nm, which are able to tighten tower bolts ranging from M42 up to M72. The roller itself weighs in at only 12 kg and can be easily transported and assembled up tower in minutes. The roller can be used more or less wherever the RAD torque tool normally fits as the roller sits lower than the torque tool itself and in addition, the flange roller is not or hardly deeper than the flange on which it rolls.
INSTALLATION METHOD
The roller can be installed in a safe and simple manner: The RAD torque tool is placed on the flange with the traditional reaction arm and socket as usual, whereafter the roller can be placed and locked manually from the front. After this, safety catches to prevent toppling of the system are adjusted to the bolt height and flange dimensions. If needed, the wheels can be aligned easily to precisely track the curvature of the flange. The entire process only takes 2-3 minutes to set up.

CABLE FREE SYSTEM

In addition, the flange roller is not or hardly deeper than the flange on which it rolls.
